Information

Agenda Item Text:

Approve the State Homeland Security Grant Program, for approved training expenses reimbursement up to $25,000, allocated under the fiscal year 2018-19 regional grant award.

Background:

The south region applied for training funds and Cochise County has been authorized to submit for reimbursement of approved training events under the grant.  Cochise County OES is asking for approval to fund additional training events up to $25,000 with the understanding that these expenses will be reimbursed 100% by the grant.  At the start of the fiscal year, the board approved $10,000 in reimbursements, but the projected training cycle will exceed this amount.  Each event requires written pre-approval from the Arizona Department of Homeland Security before funds are expended or reimbursement is requested.  This funding will directly support County departments.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

Submit pre-approvals, conduct training, submit for reimbursement.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

County departments will need to fund training out of their general fund budget.

To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:

Budget manager needs to increase appropriate activities in fund 218.
