Approve submission of a online application to the School Garden Grant Program in order to receive a $2000 grant to develop a garden project at the Juvenile Detention Center School.
Background:
"The School Garden Grant Program is a collaboration between Whole Kids Foundation, Whole Foods Market and FoodCorps. Thanks to the generosity of Whole Foods Market customers, Whole Kids Foundation is able to provide grants of $2,000 to support school garden projects in the US, UK and Canada." Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Submission to funding source of application. Upon notice of awarded funding in February 2012, will submit another agenda item with an agreement for review and approval by Board of Supervisors.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
No funding will be awarded. Garden Project will not be developed at the Juvenile Detention Center School.
