Information

Agenda Item Text:

Approve Annual Grant #2021-AL-012 from the Arizona Governor's Office of Highway Safety (AZGOHS) for DUI / Impaired Driver Enforcement for overtime, in the amount of $25,000, effective October 1, 2020 through September 30, 2021.

Background:

The Sheriff's Office has been awarded $25,000.00 in funding for overtime.  These funds are to be used for DUI / Impaired driver enforcement.  The funding is from the Arizona Governor's Office of Highway Safety (AZGOHS).  The Sheriff's Office is a member of the Southeastern Arizona DUI task force.  This is an annual grant the Sheriff's Office uses to off set costs for participating in DUI task force operations throughout the year.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

If approved, a signed contract will be sent back to AZGOHS for final approval.  Once the final contact is received, the Sheriff's Office will begin utilizing funds for DUI / Impaired driver enforcement for fiscal year 2021.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

If not approved, the Sheriff's Office will not have the funding to participate in the county wide Southeast Arizona DUI Task force details.  This will severely limit our ability to focus enforcement on DUI / Impaired driver enforcement.

To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:

Please send 2 copies of the grant with original signatures to the Sheriff's Office, Attn# Lt. R. Morales.
