Information

Agenda Item Text:

Approve Grant Agreement No. 18-LE-11030500-003 between the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Forest Service, Coronado National Forest, and Cochise County Sheriff's Office, in the amount of $10,000 for overtime, employer related expenses and fleet costs for Sheriff Deputies to patrol various recreation areas of Coronado National Forest, effective January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2022, with the understanding grant administration will be transferred to the County Finance Department in fiscal year 2022.

Background:

This agreement with the Forest Service is essentially an annual event.  As in pervious years, this year's agreement provides for the Forest Service to reimburse up to $10,000.00 in overtime, ERE and mileage for Cochise County Sheriff's Office deputies to patrol the rural recreation areas of the Coronado National Forest.  This agreement has been reviewed and approved as to form by Chief Civil Deputy, Christine J. Roberts, Cochise County Attorney's Office.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

Upon approval of this agreement, it will be returned to the Forest Service and Cochise County Sheriff's Office to initiate patrols of the recreation areas in the Coronado National Forest.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

If not approved, the Cochise County Sheriff's Office will not be able to utilize this funding when conducting patrols of the rural Coronado Forest recreational areas.

To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:

If approved, please return the original signed copy of this agreement to the Cochise County Sheriff's Office, so they can forward it to the USDA Forest Service.
