Adopt Resolution 21-10 regarding efforts to negotiate an agreement between Cochise County and the Humane Society of Southern Arizona to provide animal shelter services.
Background:
On May 18, 2021, the Board held a work session with the Humane Society of Southern Arizona regarding the organization's interest in partnering on animal shelter services with the County. This resolution confirms the Board's commitment to further discussions with the Humane Society on this matter.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
The Associate County Administrator will work with the Humane Society and the County Attorney's Office on an agreement for animal transport. Discussions will also continue on the remodeling of Tovreaville Road property as a shelter.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
Staff will not have the Board's support for this project and will be unable to move forward.
