Agenda Item Text:
Approve revised Human Resources Policy 2200, Code of Conduct, as written in the attachment, effective July 1, 2022.
Background:
The Code of Conduct Policy is revised by Human Resources as a result of the Board's continued strategic planning efforts to reduce fraud, waste, and abuse. The policy will now include a section specifically addressing accountability for an anti-fraud workplace, emphasizing the importance that all employees should hold co-workers accountable with a duty to report suspicions. The policy also clarifies language regarding gifts to employees, improper conduct, and disclosure of county information.
The draft policy was shared with all county employees and feedback was favorable with no significant concerns expressed.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Human Resources will post the policies on the county website and include information on the policy at New Employee Training and quarterly supervisor training. Human Resources will also monitor the annual acknowledgment by employees.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
Code of Conduct will not have clear direction regarding fraud.
