Agenda Item Text:

Approve request to transfer $19,614.43 from the Cochise County General Fund to the Cochise County Sheriff's Office Patrol Overtime Fund to reimburse unforeseen expenditures stemming from the 2022 elections.

Background:

Between October 24, 2022, and November 18, 2022, the Cochise County Sheriff's Office was asked to provide security details for meetings at the Board of Supervisors meetings regarding the 2022 elections.  This included five separate security details during a time when Cochise County was critically understaffed.  These five security details consumed 292.55 personnel hours, 279.05 of which were paid overtime.  This translates to
$19,614.43 (total including EREs, $11,646.83 not including EREs) being taken from our general fund overtime budget.  This was an unforeseen expense not accounted for when creating the 2022 budget.  As a result, our patrol overtime budget is depleted.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

CCSO will coordinate with finance to transfer funds.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

If funds are not transferred, CCSO will have to cut back on services provided as well as go over our operational patrol overtime budget.
