Approve the Crime Victim Compensation Grant VC-24-002 between the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission and the Cochise County Attorney's Office in the amount of $125,341, effective July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024.
Background:
The award amount of $103,841.00 is to be used by the Cochise County Attorney’s Victim Compensation Program to provide crime victims within Cochise County compensation for injuries and losses received as a result of a crime. The allocation of state funding to the Cochise County Attorney’s Office compensation program includes $21,500 to cover administration costs of the program in accordance with the budget in the grant agreement.
Fiscal Impact & Funding Sources: There is no transfer-in from any county account. This fund is fully grant monies.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Once approved by the Board, the Department will forward the paperwork to the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission for their final approval, signature and funding.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
This is a mandated service and Cochise County would be responsible. Also, victims in Cochise County would not receive compensation.
