Agenda Item Text:
Adopt Resolution 23-23 for the Authorization to Submit Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Applications and to Implement CDBG Projects.
Background:
This year, Cochise County will receive approximately $498,872 in Regional Account Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. On April 25, 2023 the Cochise County Board of Supervisors selected Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation as the County's CDBG project. In order to submit an application to the Arizona Department of Housing for the release of these funds, Cochise County must adopt a Resolution for the Authorization to Submit Applications and Implement CDBG Projects.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
The Development Services Department will submit a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Application to the Arizona Department of Housing.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If the Resolution to Apply is not adopted, Cochise County will not be able to submit a complete CDBG application to the Arizona Department of Housing and will not receive CDBG funds with which to perform Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation.
To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
Development Services must include a copy of the adopted resolution in the CDBG application. It is imperative that Dan Coxworth, Development Services Director, receives a copy of the adopted resolution by July 26, 2023 in order for the application to be timely submitted.
