Background:

The Sheriff's Office requested additional funding to purchase surveillance and evidence collection equipment which is critical to officer safety and building prosecutable cases.  The equipment was approved.  Our award was increased a maximum of $18,750 to purchase the requested items.

The Sheriff's Office has a contract (recurring) for funding of personnel by the Southwest Border Arizona Region High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA), Southern Arizona Major Investigative Team (SAMIT). This task force works under the guidance of a local Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Office. Their mission is to combat illegal drug use, sales, and smuggling occurring within the communities of Cochise County.
