Approve Funding Agreement 304-24 between Cochise County and the Arizona Department of Housing for a State Housing Trust Fund Owner-Occupied Emergency Home Repair grant in the amount of $250,000.
Background:
On April 9, 2024 at its regular Board of Supervisors meeting, the Cochise County Board of Supervisors formally accepted a State Housing Trust Fund grant for owner-occupied emergency home repairs in the amount of $250,000. Upon receipt of this acceptance, the Arizona Department of Housing forwarded a Funding Agreement that will govern the terms of this grant. The Funding Agreement requires the signature of the Board's Chair which will bind Cochise County to the terms of this agreement. The acceptance of this agreement via the signature of the Board of Supervisor's Chair is the nature of this request.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
If this request is approved, the Development Services Department will forward the executed contract to the Arizona Department of Housing. This will enable the Department to receive funding and implement the SHTF Emergency Home Repair program.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If this Funding Agreement is not accepted, the Arizona Department of Housing will not provide funds for State Housing Trust Fund emergency home repairs in Cochise County. Cochise County residents, who would otherwise qualify for this program, will not be recipients of needed emergency home repairs.
