Agenda Item Text:
Approve receipt of funds according to Amendment 3 of Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) DI18-002171, Title IV-D Child Support Processing, between Cochise County Clerk of the Superior Court and the Arizona Department of Economic Security, Division of Child Support Services, effective October 1, 2023, through April 30, 2028.
Background:
The Clerk of the Superior Court engages in court-related records management and financial services to support the court in the administration of child support related proceedings in Superior Court. The Arizona Department of Economic Security will reimburse 66% of costs incurred for processing IV-D cases. The remaining 34% of expenses are paid from general fund.
Title IV-D of the Social Security Act services are for any person with legal decision-making of a child who needs help to establish a child support or medical support order, any parent who already has a support order who needs help to collect support payments, or any noncustodial parent can apply for IV-D child support. If someone is receiving public assistance from Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or Medicaid or federally-assisted Foster Care programs, they are automatically referred to the Division of Child Support Services (DCSS) for services.
