Approve a 1 year extension to the Municipal Effluent Option Agreement with City of Bisbee, which was initially approved in August 2019.
Background:
The City of Bisbee and County entered into a Municipal Effluent Option Agreement (“2019 Option Agreement”) referring to the County’s recharge project focused on maintaining the flows and supporting the riparian habitat of the San Pedro River (“Bisbee Effluent Project” or “Project”).
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Negotiate a long term agreement with the City of Bisbee to ensure treated effluent is available for Cochise County to purchase in the event grant funding is received to build the recharge project which intends to improve the water flow in the San Pedro Riparian area near the United States and Mexico border.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
The Bisbee Effluent recharge project would be in jeopardy of being eliminated from the Cochise Conservation Recharge Network projects.
