Information
Agenda Item Text:
Approve the Crime Victim Compensation Grant VC-25-002A between the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission and the Cochise County Attorney's Office in the amount of $69,966.55, effective July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025.
Background:
The award amount of $69,966.55 is to be used by the Cochise County Attorney’s Victim Compensation Program to provide crime victims within Cochise County compensation for injuries and losses received as a result of a crime. The Grant is funded by ARPA Federal Funds. The Grant allows $16,678.05 in administrative costs which can be used to pay the salary of the Victim Compensation Coordinator and allows $2,500.00 for the VOCA Victim Compensation Training Conference. While there are no matching funds necessary for this grant, the grant does not cover any ERE’s and those associated costs of approximately $3,400 will have to come from another funding source which currently has not been identified.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Once approved by the Board, the Department will forward the paperwork to the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission for their final approval, signature and funding.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
This is a mandated service and Cochise County would be responsible. Also, victims in Cochise County would not receive compensation.
To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
Advise CAO upon Board approval. This document will be emailed through the DocuSign process. Please send a certified copy of the Board Minutes approving the Grant Agreement, as soon as it is available, to CAO.
