Adopt Resolution 24-28 authorization to use Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) colonias funds from the Arizona Department of Housing (ADOH) for owner-occupied housing rehabilitation/emergency home repair program.
Background:
On September 10, 2024 the Board of Supervisors unanimously selected owner-occupied housing rehabilitation as the project for which Cochise County would submit a Colonias grant application to the Arizona Department of Housing (ADOH) for funding. This grant application was submitted to ADOH on September 20, 2024. On October 18, 2024, ADOH requested that the Development Services Department schedule an additional public hearing regarding this grant request to give the public additional time to review and comment. During the first public hearing, a Bisbee resident, suggested that the County select owner-occupied housing rehabilitation as its CDBG Colonias grant project. This project is once again forwarded to you for your consideration.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
If approved, the Development Services Department will send a Request to Release Funding to the Arizona Department of Housing.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If this project is not selected and the corresponding resolution is not adopted, Cochise County will not receive Colonias grant funding to provide housing repair for qualifying Cochise County residents.
