Information

Agenda Item Text:

Approve grant agreement between the Legacy Foundation and Cochise County Schools for the Behavioral Health Position Funding Assistance project, in the amount of $25,000, effective November 12, 2024.

Background:

Funding for the Cochise County Mental Health Consortium, which employed 4 staff, ended on 9/30/24. We were unable to secure another grant in time to avoid the suspension of the program. We have secured a salary match grant to fund bringing one member back, so that we are able to continue to provide partial services to our schools while continuing to seek full funding for the program. The remainder of the Behavior Intervention Specialist's salary will be paid from our Small Schools fund (278).

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

We will hire a Behavior Intervention Specialist to continue to provide limited services to school districts in Cochise County.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

If not approved, we would have to look for alternative funding sources.

To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:

Please sign the Grant Agreement and return one original to the Schools Department.

Fiscal Impact

Fiscal Year:
2025
One-time Fixed Costs? ($$$):

Fiscal Impact & Funding Sources (if known):

A county (fund 100) match is not required. The funding match will come from the School Superintendent's fund 278 - revenue that we receive yearly from the state for the Small District Service Program (A.R.S. 15-365).
