Agenda Item Text:
Approve Operations Stone Garden program award, Agreement Number 999419-02 for equipment, effective November 01, 2012 through December 31, 2013 in the amount of $80,000.
Background:
Operation StoneGarden is an on-going Federally funded grant that supports local Law Enforcement Agencies along the US/Mexican Border to provide increased resources and assets to assist the United States Border Patrol in their efforts in securing the Border.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Once fully executed the Sheriff's Office will begin Operation StoneGarden Operations in conjunction with Border Patrol along the US/Mexican Border. These operations will be overtime operations that are reimbursed through direct billing of the Border Patrol. The equipment purchased under this agreement will be utilized to support these operations.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If not approved the Sheriff's Office will not be able to provide additional support to Border Patrol in operations and the Deputies will not be allowed to work overtime details in conjunction with this program and the equipment i.e. mobile and portable radios will not be ordered.
To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
Once approved and signatures received by the board on both originals. The originals should be provided to Commander Denney, to be mailed to AZDOHS to be fully executed. Once executed the board will be provided a fully executed original document in their file.
