Adopt Resolution 13-22 authorizing a $1.00 increase to the Rural Transfer Station Solid Waste rate for Fiscal Year 2013-14, effective August 9, 2013.
Background:
This proposed action to increase the user fees at the Rural Transfer Stations is brought before you to cover the specific costs at those sites. The Rate Review and Advisory Board met and voted unanimously to recommend to the Board of Supervisors that the cost to dispose of refuse be increased from $2.00 per bag, $4.00 per car/van/SUV and $7.00 per pick-up truck to $3.00 per bag, $5.00 per car/van/SUV and $8.00 per pick-up truck.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
The approved item will be presented to the public for a 30 day public notice period. In addition to formal public notice, customers at each Rural Transfer Station will be informed of the upcoming fee changes, during this 30 day time span. At the end of those 30 days: August 9, 2013 the fee increase will take effect.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If not approved revenue will not support expenses and the department will have to seek alternative funding sources to cover Rural Transfer Station shortfalls.
