Approve the Assignment Application to the Arizona State Land Department for complete assignment of a ten-acre Communications Tower Lease site located at Township 22S, Range 23E, Section 36 to be assigned from the Arizona Department of Public Safety to Cochise County.
Background:
The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) has a communications tower and shed at a leased communication site in the Mule Mountains, located at Township 22S, Range 23E, Section 36 . DPS has abandoned this site and has stated that unless Cochise County accepts assignment of the site, they will demolish the tower and shed.
The site is a critical link in the County's communications network as the tower relays communications signals from the Mule Mountains to the Texas Canyon site. Without this site the Sheriff's Office communications system would be in peril.
