Agenda Item Text:
Approve the Drug, Gang and Violent Crime Control Program from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Grant for Adult Probation for Fiscal Year 2014/2015 in the amount of $24,469 effective July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015.
Background:
The DEA grant provides funding which support the apprehension, prosecution, adjudication, and sentencing of defendants who commit drug-related crimes. The grant funds 50% of a presentence officer.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
If approved, the grant will continue to provide funding for one presentence officer.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
Without DEA funding, we would be forced to seek alternative funding sources for the presentence officer position, which is currently funded at 50%.
