Approve the renewal of an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between Cochise County and Fort Huachuca to hold military prisoners in the Cochise County Jail at the current per diem rate effective April 14, 2015 through April 14, 2018.
Background:
Fort Huachuca has historically utilized the Cochise County Jail to house pretrial military prisoners. The County is reimbursed at the current per diem rate by the Fort.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
If approved Cochise County Jail will continue to house military prisoners from Fort Huachuca at the current per diem rate.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If not approved Fort Huachuca will have to make arrangements to house their pretrial prisoners in another location. The closest military Brigg is in Yuma so they would possibly utilize another county jail.
