Adopt Resolution 11-26 to recertify and designate the areas of Bowie, San Simon, Winchester Heights, Lower Huachuca City, and Fry Townsite as Colonias.
Background:
In March 2011 the State of Arizona Department Department of Housing undertook a process to recertify Arizona Colonias to ensure they comply with legislation and recently issued Housing and Urban Development guidance. To recertify certain existing areas as Colonias in accordance to HUD requirements housing assessments were conducted in the areas of Bowie, San Simon, Winchester Heights, Lower Huachuca City, and the Fry Townsite. The adoption of Resolution 11-____ will recertify these certain areas as Colonias and provide the opportunity to apply for future State Colonias set-aside funds for these qualifying areas.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Provide the Arizona Department of Housing with a copy of the adopted Resolution, which will complete the Colonias recertification process.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
Colonias designation process will not be complete and the areas will not be eligible for State set-aside funding.
