Agenda Item Text:
Approve the Award Agreement A.G. 2012-043 from the Arizona Attorney General's Office providng the Sheriff's Office with $14,900 to support the direct costs of implementing victim's rights law pursuant to state law for the term of July 1. 2011 to June 30, 2012.
Background:
This grant award is an annual event. The funding provided, $14,900, pays approximately 44% of the salary costs for the Victim's Rights Clerk at the Sheriff's Office. The remainder of the clerk's salary is paid by the County general fund and has been a part of the Sheriff's Office budget for several years. There are no matching funds associated with grant award. The award has been reviewed and approved as to form by Ms. Terry Bannon, Deputy County Attorney.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
If approved, the Sheriff's Office will continue to participate, as mandated by law, with the Victim's Rights Program.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
As the actions performed by the Victim's Rights Clerk are mandated by state law, if this grant award is not approved the County would have to bear the full cost for the salary of that position.
To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
Upon completion of the documents, please return both originals to the Sheriff's Office so they may be forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General.
