Approve the formation of a technology consortium with other districts in the county administered by Yavapai County who will act as the contractor for E-RATE services.
Background:
This is the last opportunity based on AZ funding to receive 100% of the construction cost of high speed Internet to be paid for by the FCC and the State of AZ.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
To enter into an IGA with Yavapai County who will act as the contractor for E-RATE services.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
Schools can still apply on their own, but will not have the leverage that a consortium brings when bidding for contracts. Not approving the consortium will mean school districts will have to separately file paperwork directly with the FCC. The benefit of the consortium is that paperwork is submitted once to the FCC. An average savings of 85-90% per Mbps has been seen in 6 other counties where similar ERATE efforts have been made.
