Approve the renewal of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between Cochise County Sheriff's Office and Fort Huachuca to hold military prisoners in the Cochise County Jail at the current per diem rate of $318.06 first day and $61.91 each addition day, effective April 14, 2018 through September 31, 2027.
Background:
Fort Huachuca has historically utilized the Cochise County Jail to house pre-trial military prisoners. The County is reimbursed at the current per diem rate by the US Army Garrison, Fort Huachuca.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
If approved, Cochise County Jail will continue to house military prisoners for Fort Huachuca at the current per diem rate which may change based on the yearly per diem study.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If not approved, Fort Huachuca will have to make arrangements to house their pretrial prisoners in another location. The closest military Brigg is in Yuma, so they would possibly use another county jail.
