Approve Contract Number 2012-AL-012 between the Governor's Office of Highway Safety and the Sheriff's Office for a term of October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2012 providing $10,000 to fund overtime and Employee Related Expenses for deputies to conduct enhanced DUI enforcement throughout Cochise County.
Background:
This contract, while reduced in funding this year, is an annual event. The Governor's Office of Highway Safety provides funding the for Southeastern Arizona DUI Task Force to conduct DUI enforcement details. The funding, this year set at $10,000, provides overtime and ERE expenses for deputies to participate in DUI Task force operations. There are no matching funds associated with this agreement. This contract has been reviewed and approved as to form by Ms. Terry Bannon, Deputy County Attorney.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Once approved the Sheriff's Office will plan and conduct DUI enforcement operations throughout the County for the duration of the contract.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If not approved, the funding from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety will not be available, thus having a negative impact on the ability of the Sheriff to conduct DUI enforcement operations.
