Agenda Item Text:
Approve the Grant Agreement 19-AZDOHS-HSGP-190400-02 in the amount of $2,500 for the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training and deployments effective October 1, 2019 through September 30, 2020.
Background:
The State Homeland Security Grant Program is a federal grant program that funds preparedness projects in an effort to increase readiness in response to all hazards and terrorist attacks. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a volunteer community member based organization under the Office of Emergency Services who provide preparedness training to the local community as well as deployable volunteers to augment first responders during large scale emergencies or disasters. This is a 100% reimbursed expense grant with no cost match required by the county.

Schedule community classes and team training events.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
Preparedness efforts in rural communities within the county will be limited to volunteer donations and existing equipment resources. Impacts will be realized in 2-3 years. Alternative funding sources would be requested through general fund budget or donations.
