Agenda Item Text:

Approve policy changes to: Workers Compensation, Election Worker, Emergency Declaration and Resources, Education Reimbursement, and Documenting Employee Performance, effective January 1, 2020.

Background:

The Board of Supervisors held a work session on the referenced policy revisions on October 22, 2019. At that time, staff provided a comparison of current and proposed revisions for each policy. The policies were then posted for employee comment from Oct 25 - November 29. Changes made as a result of the work session and employee feedback include:
1. Education Reimbursement changed to include books for accredited degree programs or certificates.
2. All Others: Minor clarification regarding employee classifications. Removed "Department Heads" when used and replaced with "Appointing Authority".

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

Policies will be effective January 1, 2020. Cochise County website will be updated and department procedures changed in order to comply with new policies. Information will be disseminated to employees through department communications.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

Staff will re-evaluate and incorporate any changes based on Board comments, questions, or concerns.

To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:

Send approved policies to Marty Renteria in IT, with copy to HR, for posting to website.
