Agenda Item Text:
Approve an Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Sierra Vista and Cochise County for a Sewer Extension Project in the Sulger Subdivision.
Background:
The City of Sierra Vista plans to extend the city sewer system into the Sulger Subdivision, a County enclave located within the City. Currently, the residences in the Sulger Subdivision rely on antiquated and failing septic systems located on small parcels of land (about 7,500 square feet each). The City anticipates being awarded funding from the United States Department of Agriculture-Rural Development and is ready to move toward the construction phase of the project. The Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Sierra Vista and Cochise County will identify the responsibilities of the parties in regards to the sewer extension project. The City of Sierra Vista is the lead agency for the project and responsible for all costs associated with extending the city sewer system. No impact on the General Fund.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
The City of Sierra Vista will move forward with the system extension and construction phase.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
Responsibilities between the City and the County will not be properly defined in regards to sewer extension project within the Sulger Subdivision.
To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
Two originals of the IGA will be provided to the Clerk of the Board. After formal Board action and appropriate signatures, please return one original to the Facilities/Grants office. Thank you for your assistance.
