Agenda Item Text:
Approve payment for April 2020 operating expenses and final closure of the Cochise County Sheriff's Office Arizona Air Support, LLC 2019-2020 Helicopter Management Project.
Background:
In March 2019, Cochise County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) and Commander Farris were informed it would be the last year the HGB Foundation would be funding the CCSO helicopter program. In June 2019, Commander Farris and Mr. Buffett came to a handshake agreement that HGB Foundation would indeed support the helicopter program for the following year April 1, 2020, through March 31, 2021.
Based on the gentlemen's agreement, Arizona Air Support secured the pilots and pilot living quarters for April 2020, with the anticipation of a contract renewal. The April expenditures to Arizona Air Support amounted to $8,870.00. Shortly thereafter, due to the coronavirus and unsettling world markets, the HGB Foundation made a decision not to fund the CCSO helicopter program for the coming year, but looked at a downsized helicopter program in the future.
CCSO has a small donation account that was funded by HGB Foundation for helicopter and/or handgun repair parts. CCSO is requesting to use $8,879.00 of these funds to close out the helicopter program with Arizona Air Support.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
There would be an impact on Arizona Air Support for funding unnecessary services that were not utilized by CCSO.
To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
Please notify Rea Anne Servia or Carol Schneider if purchase order 2020-00000856 can be processed for payment.
