Agenda Item Text:

Approve the Law Enforcement Safety Equipment Grant for $27,000, from the Arizona Attorney General's Office, for specifically delineated equipment needed by the Cochise County Sheriff's Office.

Background:

On July 23, 2020, the Cochise County Sheriff's Office applied for $27,000 Police Officer Safety Equipment Grant being offered by the Office of the Attorney General, Attorney General Mark Brnovich, State of Arizona.  The grant requested a specific description of equipment that we were going to purchase.  In late August 2020, Cochise County received an electronic credit for $27,000 to purchase this equipment for Cochise County Sheriff's Office.  The grant application is attached.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

If approved, the Cochise County Sheriff's Office will purchase the items identified on the grant equipment list.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

If not approved, the Cochise County Sheriff's Office will eventually need to identify funding sources to purchase the items on the grant equipment list.

To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:

Approve the electronic credit received pursuant to this grant, from the Attorney General's office for $27,000, allowing the Cochise County Sheriff's Office to move forward with purchasing the specific law enforcement safety equipment allowed according to this grant.
