Information
Agenda Item Text:
Approve the Fiscal Year 2020-21 State Homeland Security Grant Program sub-recipient agreement 20-AZDOHS-HSGP-200400-03, for $11,500, in support of drone surveillance equipment to protect special events and large incidents, effective October 1, 2020 through September 30, 2021.
Background:
The homeland security grant program provides funding to address gaps in local preparedness and response to terrorism related events. This specific project will provide drone surveillance equipment used to identify drone threats at special events and large incidents. The UAS attacks and encroachment on public safety special use airspace is an emerging and developing threat. This equipment will allow local responders to identify these threats and take appropriate action to ensure the safety of the public and public safety aviation resources. This grant does not require a cost match. All equipment will be available for use by any law enforcement or fire / ems agency in the county.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Complete required documentation and purchase equipment for distribution.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
State allocated funding will be redistributed to other counties.
To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
