Approve Termination of Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between the Superior Court and the County School Superintendent, for Educational Services at the Juvenile Detention Center, effective December 31, 2020, close of business.
Background:
The COURT had been responsible for the education program at the Juvenile Detention Center. This IGA transferred that responsibility back to the SUPERINTENDENT.
The purpose of this Agreement was to establish the terms and conditions under which the COURT and SUPERINTENDENT shall work in cooperation to develop and deliver educational programs in the Cochise County Juvenile Detention Center which comply with statutory and regulatory requirements.
The Cochise County Superior Court, on behalf of its Juvenile Detention Center, a party to the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) executed between the Cochise County Board of Supervisors on behalf of the Cochise County School Superintendent's Office, hereby exercises its right to Terminate this Agreement pursuant to the provisions as set forth in Paragraph 8 A 1.

The SUPERINTENDENT shall work in cooperation with the COURT and shall agree on the method and delivery of the juvenile detention center education program, pursuant to A.R.S.§15-913, until December 31, 2020, close of business.
The SUPERINTENDENT shall be responsible for all financial claim submissions, budgeting and reporting requirement necessary to fulfill the purpose and mission of the juvenile detention education center, until December 31, 2020, close of business.
The SUPERINTENDENT shall work in cooperation with the COURT and shall agree on the method and delivery of the juvenile detention center education program, pursuant to A.R.S.§15-913, until December 31, 2020, close of business.
The SUPERINTENDENT shall be responsible for all financial claim submissions, budgeting and reporting requirement necessary to fulfill the purpose and mission of the juvenile detention education center, until December 31, 2020, close of business.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
Statutory and regulatory requirements for Education services would be delayed.
