Information
Agenda Item Text:
Approve Reimbursement Grant from the 100 Club of Arizona, not to exceed $10,000, for the purchase of 5 automated external defibrillators.
Background:
An AED is a lightweight, battery-operated, portable device that checks the heart's rhythm and sends a shock to the heart to restore a normal rhythm. The device is used to help people having sudden cardiac arrest. The Sheriff's Office currently has 20 AED's. Three of those AED's have failed and all of them are at their end of life. The purchase of these 5 AED's will be to replace some of the current supply which are beyond their working life.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
If approved, the Sheriff's Office will move forward with the purchase of the 5 new AED and submit for reimbursement through the 100 Club of Arizona.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If not approved, the current AED's will continue to fail and the Sheriff's Office and Search and Rescue will not be able to provide life saving measures to the level we currently have.
To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
No signatures are required. Once the board approves the 100 Club only requires a paid invoice and a letter stating the equipment is in good working order.
