Agenda Item Text:
Approve the renewal of the existing Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between the Cochise County School Superintendent and the Arizona Association of County School Superintendents (AACSS), effective November 15, 2021 through November 14, 2031.
Background:
This is an IGA between all 15 County School Superintendents. The purpose of AACSS is to: (1) promote the public’s interest in improving and advancing education in Arizona; (2) continuously strive to enhance teaching and learning and to upgrade curriculum content; (3) serve as a liaison to civic and governmental agencies on educational issues; (4) work to improve educational administration; and (5) enhance delivery of educational services for the benefit of public schools and AZ residents.
The benefits of belonging to this association are advocacy services from our lobbyist, organizational representation at the state and federal level, and the benefits of being a part of Arizona Association of School Business Officials, Arizona Business and Education Coalition, and the Arizona Rural Schools Association. AACSS gives the Superintendents a voice that, as a group, is heard at the state and federal level.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):
The CCSSO will continue the IGA with the AACSS, effective November 15, 2021 through November 14, 2031.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
Cochise County would not be able to take part in the benefits of the association.
To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
Please return one signed copy of the IGA to the County School Superintendent and we will return it to the AACSS.
