Approve Interfund Transfer of $65,254 from Fund 205 Racketeer Influenced Corrupt Organizations (RICO) to Fund 202 High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area grant (HIDTA) in the amount of $34,511 and to Drug, Gang, and Violent Crime Control grant, formerly known as Byrne (DGVCC) in the amount of $30,743 for the county match.
Background:
Fund 205 contains RICO funds that are generated by law enforcement activities that result in asset forfeiture proceedings. These funds have been used in previous year to cover the county matches for the HIDTA and DGVCC (Byrne) grants.
HIDTA which is the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area grant is a federal grant, used to fund one deputy position, assigned to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), who heads the Southeastern Arizona Major Investigative Team (SAMIT). This grant cycle will require a county match to assist with the ERE costs. The grant covers only 15% of ERE costs, the remaining 85% of ERE cost is provided by the county match. The ACJC DGVCC (Byrne) grant is a Federal (35%), State (40%) and County (25%) match grant and is used to fund overtime and ERE operations for our Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) Deputies.
