Agenda Item Text:
Approve revised Human Resources Policy 2220, Employees Ineligible for Rehire, as written in the attachment, effective July 1, 2022.
Background:
The Employees Ineligible for Rehire Policy is revised to decrease the term of ineligibility from 10 years to 5 years. This is recommended because 10 years is overly burdensome for this purpose. The policy is also revised to provide clarification on written notice expectations and a prohibition on the use of personal leave during the last two weeks of employment
The draft policy was shared with all county employees and feedback was favorable with no significant concerns expressed.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Post policy to website and update training materials.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
The ineligibility period will continue to be 10 years, which is difficult to manage and enforce.
