Adopt Resolution 12-02 approving the submission of projects for consideration in Arizona's 2012/2013 Highway Safety Plan.
Background:
The Sheriff's Office receives grants annually from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) to conduct DUI and Underage Alcohol Enforcement, as well as for aggressive driver and seat belt enforcement projects. Each year GOHS requires the Board of Supervisors to enact a resolution approving submission of projects for consideration, and designating Sheriff Dever, or his designee, as agent for the County to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit documents and other necessary instruments in connection with a grant.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Upon receipt of the Resolution it will be forwarded to GOHS to satisify their requirements.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If the Board of Supervisors does not enact the Resolution, the Sheriff's Office will not be eligible for the receipt of grant funds from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety to conduct DUI, Underage Alcohol, and other traffic related enforcement initiatives.
