Approve State Grant for Public Defender training funds, per ARS 12-117, in the amount of $4,000 for the Legal Advocate, effective July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.
Background:
In 1989 the Arizona Legislature enacted ARS 12-117 for the purpose of providing funds to the Supreme Court for distribution to county public defenders for indigent defense training purposes.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Approvals respectfully requested. Use funding in accordance with the agreement attached hereto.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If not approved, the Legal Advocate will depend solely on the county general fund for funding for mandatory continuing legal education credits for attorney staff.
