Information
Agenda Item Text:
Approve Agreement between Western Sky Aviation LLC dba Western Sky Helicopters (Western Sky Helicopters) and Cochise County on behalf of the Cochise County Sheriff's Office (CCS) to provide helicopter services for a period of five (5) years.
Background:
On 12-13-2022 The Cochise County Board of Supervisors approved Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs (AZ DEMA) Agreement M22-0062. This Agreement authorized Cochise County and the Cochise County Sheriff's Office to enter into a contractual agreement with Western Sky Helicopters for a period of 5 years. The Agreement covers all associated costs for the lease, use, maintenance, personnel, and equipment for helicopter operations. The Agreement covers the purchase of a helicopter, fuel, night capability equipment for the helicopter, pilots, maintenance, and all associated costs for the upkeep of this helicopter.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
If this Agreement is approved, Western Skiy Helicopter will purchase and outfit a helicopter for use by the Cochise County Sheriff's Office. This helicopter will provide invaluable resources to the Cochise County Sheriff's Office and other public safety agencies throughout Cochise County involving illegal border activities.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If not approved, the Cochise County Sheriff's Office along with our federal and state partners would be impacted by the limited amount of air assets afforded to our area.
To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
Please sign to original copies of the agreement and return to Chief of Staff Alinen or other Sheriff's Office Command Staff.
