Information

Agenda Item Text:

Approve Amendment 1 to Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) CTR055990, COVID-19 Health Disparities, to extend the agreement through May 30, 2024.

Background:

IGA CTR055990 was originally set to expire on May 31, 2023.  This Amendment extends the agreement for an additional year. We currently contract with the Arizona Regional Economic Development Foundation, Winchester Heights Community Center, Pinal Hispanic Counsel, Chiricahua Community Health Care Centers, Inc., Southeast Arizona Area Health Education Center (SEAHEC), Arizona Community Health Workers Association (AzCHOW), and University of Arizona’s Prevention Research Center and have Memorandums of Understanding with the Good Neighbor Alliance and the Bisbee Coalition for the Homeless. It also funds 3.1 FTE in the CCHSS who work with the unhoused population and administer the grant.

This funding has allowed us to build a robust Community Health Worker network in Cochise County. Combined, they have positively impacted over 4,800 individuals. Ten of our 15 CHWs have passed the State Certification exam.

Amendment # 1 will allow this work to continue for an additional year and service agreements with the above community partners will be amended to reflect the new end date.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

CCHSS will revise and update all of the Service Agreements with Community Partners so they are also extended to May 30, 2024.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

CCHSS will not be able to fulfill the requirements of the agreement between Cochise County and Arizona Department of Health Services as outlined in CTR055990 and will have to end the service agreements with community partners on May 31, 2023. Three grant funded positions with the County will be eliminated.
