Agenda Item Text:
Approve an additional obligation of $30,000 of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for the Countywide Fire Alerting System.
Background:
The board approved Resolution 22-10 obligating American Rescue Plan Act Funds for Cochise County Fire Station Alert System Project on April 5th, 2022, in the amount of $2,240,000. As the project implementation is being finalized, it has become apparent that additional funds are needed to make the alerting system fully functional for all firestations. This includes external antennae for several firestations which do not have sufficient cellular coverage, and other components needed to ensure that all firefighters receive all alerts in a timely manner.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Procure the additional equipment and install at the appropriate fire station.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
Several stations will not have a fully functional Fire Alert System.
To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
Provide IT department with board minutes showing action taken by the Board of Supervisors.
