Agenda Item Text:
Approve Funding Agreement between Cochise County Superior Court and the Arizona Supreme Court, Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC), provided by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) for Reduction of Case Backlogs, ARPA 2 - Court Technology Clerk/Assistant, in the amount of $135,800, effective March 1, 2023 through December 31, 2026.
Background:
The Arizona Supreme Court has secured new funding under the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), with one of the funding initiatives focused on Court Technology Clerks/Assistants. The funding is provided through the state Case Processing Assistance Fund (CPAF) and Judicial Collection Enhancement Fund (JCEF). The purpose of these funds is to finance a courtroom technician in each county to handle the complex equipment and software systems needed to run remote and hybrid hearings, to make a proper record, and to facilitate the use of digital evidence. We estimate the funding should cover the existing Judicial IT Customer Service Assistant as follows by fiscal year:
FY24 - $40,000
FY25 - $48,750
FY26 - $47,050
