Agenda Item Text:

Approve Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) CTR067579 Cochise County Medical Reserve Corps State, Territory and Tribal Nations, Representative Organizations for Next Generation (MRC STTRONG) between Arizona Department of Health Services and Cochise County Health and Social Services, in the amount of $126,500, to include one additional full-time equivalent staff member, effective June 1, 2023 through May 31, 2025.

Background:

The purpose of this intergovernmental agreement funding is to be used to expand Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) units in developing and establishing training programs (so units can go out and deliver workforce readiness activities and enhance MRC liaison capability) to improve public health partner networks, target disaster areas, and better prepare to integrate responder services with fairness in health opportunity, responsive to the unique health challenges within community context. MRC response capability will be expanded by One (1): integrating MRCs in state emergency plans, and Two (2): establishing statewide standards for unit training and program infrastructure development.

This intergovernmental agreement will include hiring 1 new staff.

Cochise County is a Tier 1 Sub-recipient, focus areas in the IGA are:
Strengthen the healthcare workforce by enhancing work collaborations among complementary organizations.
Growing networks to better maximize and improve public health.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

Your approval is respectfully requested.

Please forward signed copies of the agreements to the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, Kimberly Mitchell.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

Cochise County Health and Social Services (CCHSS) will not be able to strengthen our local healthcare workforce or grow networks, resulting in CCHSS not having an MRC to help with local emergencies and/or responses.

To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:

Please forward signed copies of the agreements to the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, Kimberly Mitchell.
