Information
Agenda Item Text:
Approve acceptance of State Housing Trust Fund grant from the Arizona Department of Housing in the amount of $250,000 for owner-occupied housing repair.
Background:
On January 23, 2024, the Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution 24-02 in which the Board authorized the submission of an application for State Housing Trust Funds. These funds would be used to fund emergency home repairs for Cochise County residents. The Arizona Department of Housing notified Cochise County on March 18, 2024, that ADOH was conditionally reserving State Housing Trust Funds for Cochise County in the amount of $250,000. The conditions are 1) that Cochise County submits monthly progress reports and 2) that backup documentation is submitted for requests for reimbursement. These are routine procedures that we also follow for our CDBG housing repair grant.
We are not able to enter into a funding agreement with ADOH before the Board of Supervisors accepts this grant. Acceptance of this grant is the nature of this request.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Cochise County will formally accept the terms and conditions of the Arizona Department of Housing's offer letter.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If the Board of Supervisors does not accept the State Housing Trust Fund grant, qualifying Cochise County homeowners will not be beneficiaries of these funds for emergency home repairs.
