Approve a Memorandum of Understanding between Fort Huachuca Directorate of Emergency Services and the Office of the Sheriff, Cochise County Jail, for housing military prisoners in accordance with Army Regulation 190-7 dated June 15, 2006, for a 3-year term effective May 22, 2012 - May 22, 2015 at the current Jail Per Diem rate of $224.10 for the first day of prisoner confinement and an additional $65.56, for each day thereafter per prisoner; this rate is subject to change in accordance to the Jail Per Diem Study, conducted on an annual basis.
Background:
This memorandum of understanding between Fort Huachuca Directorate of Emergency Services and the Office of the Sheriff, Cochise County Jail, is an on-going agreement to house military prisoners in the Cochise County Jail Facility. This agreement is subject to renewal ever three years as the need exists.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Upon board approval the memorandum of agreement will become fully executed and and original copy will be sent to Fort Huachuca Directorate of Emergency Services for their filing. A second copy will be retained by the Office of the Sheriff and the second original copy will be retained by the board for filing.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If not approved Fort Huachuca Directorate of Emergency Services will no longer be able to house military prisoners in the Cochise County Jail, within the provisions of the Memorandum of Agreement.
