Agenda Item Text:
Approve the Highway Safety Grant Agreement 2025-AL-014 from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety, for the DUI / Impaired Driver Enforcement program, in the amount of $22,404, effective October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2025.
Background:
The Cochise County Sheriff's Office is continuing a long partnership with the Arizona Governor's Office of Highway Safety for DUI and Impaired Driver enforcement within Cochise County.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Once the contract is signed, the original will be sent back to AZGOHS for the final approval. Once we have received the fully signed contract, the Cochise County Sheriff's Office will begin using the funds for DUI / Impaired driver enforcement operations.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
The Cochise County Sheriff's Office does not have the funding to deploy deputies for holiday DUI enforcement operations. If this grant was not approved, the Sheriff's Office would not be able to participate in the efforts and partnerships of the Southeastern Arizona DUI Taskforce.
