Adopt Resolution 24-29 to authorize the submission of an application for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Colonias funds to fund owner-occupied housing rehabilitation for qualifying Cochise County residents.
Background:
On September 10, 2024, the Board of Supervisors authorized the Development Services Department to submit a CDBG Colonias grant application to the Arizona Department of Housing to fund owner-occupied housing rehabilitation. The Development Services Department submitted this application on September 20, 2024. On October 18, 2024, the Arizona Department of Housing (ADOH) requested that Cochise County hold an additional public participation meeting to allow residents more time to review the proposed project and to comment. This meeting (and the adoption of the corresponding resolution) will fulfill ADOH's request.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
If this resolution authorizing the Development Services Department to submit the grant application is adopted, the Development Services will submit a request to the Arizona Department of Housing for the release of grant funds.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If the Board of Supervisors does not authorize the Development Services Department to submit this grant application, Cochise County residents will not be able to receive housing repairs under the rehabilitation program.
