Information

Agenda Item Text:

Adopt Resolution 25-06 to approve 3 Vote Centers for the 2025 Special Primary and General Elections for Congressional District 7 as listed on the attached Exhibit; and authorize the Elections Director to make substitutions as necessary prior to each election, in the event that a Vote Center replacement needs to be made in accordance with A.R.S.§ 16-411.

Background:

Pursuant to A.R.S. 16-411, the Board must designate polling places prior to an election.  That Statute also allows for the Board to authorize the Elections Director to make substitutions as necessary prior to each election in the event a Vote Center replacement needs to be made in accordance with A.R.S. 16-411.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

Finalize all Vote Center rental agreements, promote locations to voters and conduct the 2025 CD7 Special Elections.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

State law requires the designation of polling place/voting centers.  Not approving this would also mean a delay in securing the facilities as they are popular public meeting places that book up a year in advance.
