Agenda Item Text:
Approve application for and receipt of funding as awarded by the State of Arizona Governor's Office for Children, Youth and Families (GOCYF) to Cochise County and administered by Juvenile Court Services for purpose of operating the Juvenile Drug Court.
Background:
Funding source is an annual renewal application and provides funding to Cochise County Juvenile Court Services for Pro-Tem Judges to preside over the Juvenile Drug Court in three regions of Cochise County; Douglas, Sierra Vista and Benson. The expense for the personnel costs of the three Pro-Tem Judges is reimbursed by this funding source on a quarterly timeframe. The ten percent (10%) county match portion is budgeted and approved each year in the general fund budget for Juvenile Court Services.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Juvenile Court Services will provide a copy of the completed application on or before November 5th due to the due-date required for this application to GOCYF is outside of the timeframe available for submission to the Board of Supervisors.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
Juvenile Court Services would not have funds for the continuing operation of the Juvenile Drug Court.
